But what if this kind of passwords that get you in and out of your computer were lost or forgotten? i have seen many users who bring out  complaints of forgotten password for their PC for the reason of not using the PC anymore, if this tips is followed and implement properly, I Believe you will  get your Computer to work again.

"Back Door Password"

the first tip and most recommended to bypass BIOS setup is the using of BIOS manufacturers backdoor password, this password are hard coded into the BIOS by the manufacturer and will override any other created password, this might seems little easy solution, but you must know (i) who made the BIOS, (ii) the BIOS version that has been installed  in the system (iii) what backdoor password has used for the BIOS, so for you to know the backdoor of a system your only chance is to contact the BIOS manufacturer or read the documentation that came with the system. In addition since laptop have better BIOS security than Desktop Cousing they classically not employ the use of backdoor but its worth trying, as an extra security measure, many BIOS manufacturers have added a features that will lock you out of the sytstem completely if you try to guess the password and enter it incorrectly 3 times, make sure you are entering the correct password.

Keyboard Error

another methods  you can use to get access to the BIOS setup program is to overload the keyboard buffer by holding down a key as the system boots, once the buffer has been overloaded you will receive an error message and you will be taken into the setup program where you can change the password, this method does not work on all BIOS programs but it is worh trying becuase it really cant do any damage or permanently lock you out of the system.

Resetting the CMOS using Motherboard Jumpers

since password data are stored on CMOS, some motherboard manufacturers provide jumpers that allow technician to easily reset the CMOS value to their default settings, this method will eliminate any user created  BIOS password and set the value to the "use BIOS password" to "NO", to reset the CMOS value you would turn the system off, change the jumpers setting according to the motherboard documentantion and turn the system back on, you will be taken into the BIOS setup Program where you can change the CMOS configuration, after exiting the BIOS you should then turn the System off, return the return the jumpers to their original settings and power the computer again the system will boot using the new configuration data and you will no longer be prompted fo ra BIOS password.

But if your motherboard does not have BIOS reset jumpers, you can reset the CMOS data by removing the cmos battery, once again this will set all CMOS value to their default settings including eliminating the use of BIOS password, when you remove the CMOS battery from the system you should leave it for at least 20 minutes this length of time should sufficient to reset the system but some system may require up to 48 hours for the data to be erased.

Take note that when you reset the CMOS value to erase the BIOS passwords, you will loose any previously stored information in the CMOS, i recommend you have your CMOS setting backed up using CMOSSave program,so you can easily restore them,  but make sure your back-up copy does not require the use of BIOS password, if it does you will be right back where you started!

Password Cracking Software:

software is available  from several manufacturers that allows you to crack or reset BIOS password these such programs are RemPass, KillCMOS and CMOS Pass Recovery Tools, keep in mind that if you unable to boot the PC from disk, you will not be able to use these programs, additionally since the software does not come from the BIOS manufacturers you will be using them at your own risk. but use at least resort of these program can come in handy at wit's end of troubleshooting an unknown BIOS password.
